As the designer of the building's branding elements, including the signage, my goal for the entrance was to immediately establish the project's core theme. I designed the backlit lettering to create a "halo" effect, making the modern typography appear to float off the rugged brick surface. This first point of contact was crucial; it’s where we introduce the central design tension of the entire project—the interplay between raw, historic texture and clean, contemporary precision.

Overview

Featherlite Evoma Hotel & Business Centre, located in KR Puram, Bengaluru, is a four-star property spread across 70,000+ sq. ft. This large scale project for the HNI client, Mr. Manohar Gopal, CEO, Featherlite groups involved revamping a 30-year-old hotel into a modern hospitality and business hub, comprising 260 guest rooms, three business conference halls, a restaurant, and multiple public spaces. The primary challenge lay in delivering a contemporary transformation within a optimized budget, which meant retaining much of the existing furniture and structure while using finishes, color palettes, wall treatments, and spatial reconfiguration to redefine the overall aesthetic.

Our design approach introduced warmth and brightness in the reception and public zones to create an inviting ambience, professional sophistication in the business center through muted palettes and modern paneling, and comfort paired with subtle luxury in guest rooms through warm hues, rich drapery, and marble-topped details. In the restaurant, spatial flow was improved by reorganizing layouts and refreshing upholstery to create vibrancy and cheer. The project highlights how resource optimization, sensitive spatial planning, and innovative use of materials can breathe new life into a legacy property while aligning with contemporary expectations of hospitality and business functionality.

The elevator lobby combines sleek, modern finishes with bold accents. Wooden slat paneling with integrated lighting contrasts with clean marble flooring, while a golden sunburst mirror adds a focal point. Light walls and reflective surfaces enhance brightness, ensuring the transition space feels airy and contemporary.

The round table business hall, with muted blue acoustic wall panels to distinguish its identity from the other hall. Acoustic panels here are curated as a modern aesthetic element but also significant for the business meetings.

In the bedroom, a warm yellow palette dominates, layered with deep red and burgundy textiles to convey richness. The suite design emphasizes warmth and intimacy. Polished wood finishes anchor the headboard wall, while drapery filters natural light into a warm glow. The wood was retained and paired with refreshed upholstery and wall paint in soft creams to brighten the space. Golden drapery adds depth, while a pop of magenta in bedding introduces vibrancy against a neutral canvas. The overall palette balances elegance with cost- optimisation. Artwork and patterned rugs add layered detail, creating a cozy yet upscale ambience within minimal intervention.

The lounge is finished in warm beige tones with modern leather sofas, glass-topped coffee tables, and contemporary wall art. The color palette is dominated by warm yellows and beige on the walls, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Strategic lighting highlights textured walls and ceiling accents, establishing the space as a transitional zone that is both comfortable and professional.

This conference room is set up in a formal boardroom style. The design intent for a professional and sophisticated look. Here, acoustic panels in soft green were applied along the walls, paired with light-toned wooden cladding for a fresh yet corporate feel. The striped flooring adds visual dynamism to an otherwise neutral space, while flexible round-table layouts support workshops and collaborative events.
